Irish songstress Imelda May has been announced the Friday headliner for HebCelt 2017 based on Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland from Wednesday 19th to Saturday 22nd July 2017.

She joins the previously confirmed headliners of The Waterboys, and Dougie MacLean, along with others. Please see the line-up page for the details.

Festival Director Caroline MacLennan said: "Adding Imelda May to an already exciting line-up this year is fantastic news for the festival and our audience. She is a wonderful singer and very popular with festival fans, as her place in the Hall of Fame recognises. We are also announcing a number of other acts for this year's festival, some who will be familiar to our audience and some new names. This is what HebCelt is all about, providing the best music and showcasing emerging talent."

Further announcements will be made soon.  As well as the music there's also a full programme of family entertainment, as well as a street arts programme with walkabout, workshops and fire shows. Expect a line-up of music featuring top international artists set against the backdrop of the Gaelic culture and Hebridean heritage.

Many complementary events are also hosted by community groups around Stornaway and the islands of Lewis and Harris catering for a variety of tastes both musical and otherwise. There are also workshops often given by many of the festival's performers, which includes masterclass sessions. Also included are the ever popular Gaelic language tasters, lectures and children's entertainment plus numerous pub sessions in Stornoway and the surrounding area. Art workshops will be given a historical twist, there's a fire show finale on Saturday.
