James have revealed they will open the second stage at this summer's Glastonbury Festival according to frontman Tim Booth in an interview on BBC 5 live.

The band will be the first act on the Other Stage at 11am on Friday 24 June at slot previously occupied by Kaiser Chiefs and The Charlatans in previous years, Booth said, "We're going to cut the ribbon and smash the champagne on the ship."

The only other acts confirmed so far are Friday headliner Muse, Adele on Saturday and Coldplay on Sunday, and PJ Harvey and Jeff Lynne's Electric Light Orchestra filling the 'legends' slot on the same day. Plus the entrants for the Emerging Talent competition Bossy Love, Early Ghost, Gillbanks, Hattie Whitehead, Henry Green, Lady Sanity, Marcus McCoan, and She Drew The Gun.

Festival goers were able to book a ticket by paying a £50 deposit, with the balance of £178 + £5 booking fee due in the first week from 9am Friday 1st April – 23:59 Thursday 7th April. Postage will be charged per order (not per ticket) when paying the balance on the Seetickets website.

There is likely to be a resale of any cancelled / returned tickets following the balance payments window. You must be registered in order to buy tickets in the limited resale, expected to happen next month.

Online registration can be carried out by clicking here.

The full complete line-up will not be announced until May. Expect something like 2,000 performances at over 100 venues including music, cabaret, theatre, circus, a fantastic Kidz area, poetry, green crafts and information, site art, decor, and loads, loads more ... much more than just the music, so make sure you check it all out!

The dates for the 2016 Festival will be from Wednesday 22nd to Sunday 26th June.
