The first acts have been revealed for Festival No. 6 taking place in Portmeirion, Wales returning for a fifth year in 2016 from Thursday 1st until Sunday 4th September 2016. The festival is famed for it's quirky setting - the location for the cult 60's TV series The Prisoner, hence the name being a reference to the show.

Closing proceedings on Friday night are Bastille, headlining Saturday night will be Hot Chip, and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds will be closing the festival.

No.6 composer-in-residence Joe Duddell, joins up with Manchester Camerata Chamber Orchestra on an exclusive David Bowie Reimagined performance, with very special guest vocalists on each song.

Also appearing will be live acts including Aurora, Blossoms, C Duncan, Django Django, Echo and the Bunnymen, Frances, Gwenno, JP Cooper, Lawrence Taylor, Lucy Rose, Ngod , Oh Wonder, Oscar, Roots Manuva, Roisin Murphy, and The Amazons.

The festival is again welcoming The Nest Collective, and their stage will play host to an eclectic range of acts and artists across the weekend including This Is The Kit.

The first of the DJ line-up is also unveiled including A Love from Outer Space: Andrew Weatherall & Sean Johnston, Craig Charles, Fleetmac Wood, Joy Orbison, Kate Simko & The London Electronic Orchestra, Optimo (Until the Music Stops), Smooth Sailing presents Kaftan Discotheque, and The 2 Bears.

This is only the first wave of announcements for this year’s No.6, with a second wave of artists and the much anticipated arts and culture programme all to be announced over the next couple of months.

Festival founder Gareth Cooper said, "This is year five and it just keeps getting better and better. We’re extremely excited about this year’s festival - our first wave of artists and DJ’s is better than ever and there are plenty more surprises up our sleeves. We also have a huge amount to announce on the culture, arts and food side of the festival which has become the real heart of No.6. All will be revealed very soon but I I’m convinced 2016 is destined to be the best yet."

Portmeirion was constructed between 1925 and 1975 by architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis and the village is a bizarre and elaborate interpretation of a Mediterranean villa.

Bands, DJs, musicians and string ensembles will be performing across the entire site, from the historic town hall to the Colonnade gardens to the picturesque Bay Stage and the promenade along the sandy beached estuary of the River Dwyryd.

Festival goers can also expect comedy, poetry, pop up-theatre, intimate readings, film screenings, woodland trails, art installations, pop up woodland raves, lectures and discussions, unique collaborations, the voices of a male voice choir, processions, The Prisoner reconstructions, and more.

Be seeing you.
