Next year Shambala which takes place on August Bank Holiday Weekend from Thursday 25th until Sunday 28th August 2016 at a secret location.

Over the event's seventeen-year history, they've introduced incentives like ditching disposable plastics, introduced low-carbon travel schemes and become 100% renewably powered. Shambala Festival was the first UK festival to accept Bitcoin - the world’s first digital currency - as payment for tickets. Shambaholics also have the chance to balance their travel-related carbon with a donation directly into renewable energy, the recycling deposit was introduced, and so was a plastic bottles ban.

Now organisers have announced they will be going vegetarian (again - it used to be veggie when it was held outside Plymouth) with all catering outlets only selling veggie food. This will include all of the food they are providing for staff and crew which will also be 100% meat and fish free, mostly local and mostly organic.

Organisers announced, "...We can’t help but feel there is a big, meaty elephant in the room. As well as land degradation, deforestation and ocean pollution, the meat industry is responsible for more greenhouse emissions than all global transportation put together.

" This year we're setting ourselves a challenge: to provide the most eye-popping, mouthwatering, colourful, hearty array of cuisine at Shambala 2016 without a single bit of meat or fish in sight. Watch out for insect dishes, Bacon Lovers Anonymous support groups, luxury dining experiences and a range of delicious food from around the world.

"Meat lovers, bring your own meat on site if you want. But when you see what’s on offer from our cafés, we wager you don’t miss it."

There are no acts confirmed yet for 2016. The festival is expected to have 200 acts across a dozen or so stages of music programming, plus a roller disco, karaoke, contemporary circus performances (tightrope walking, swinging trapeze, pole dancing), and loads more.
