Glastonbury Festival have confirmed to eFestivals the dates for next year will be the last weekend in June, that's from Wednesday 22nd to Sunday 26th June 2016.

They have also clarified that "2018 is the next proposed fallow year at Worthy Farm."

There is some ambiguity in that statement intentionally. It seems that organisers really do need to think about a 'new location'. They do have issues to address and one way of addressing them is to move site.

It's not yet known whether 2018 will be a fallow year with no Festival, or the year the Festival moves to a new site, but organisers are more keen to get on with planning next year's event first.

One of the contributing factors is the amount of people who were pissing on the land instead of in the facilities provided. Urine which then filters into the Environment Office monitored watercourses. It's a condition of the licence, and the continuation of the Festival that set water pollution levels are not exceeded.

eFestivals also understands that other landowners in the area, are also, as ever problematic. The Eavis family only own land in the middle of the festival and rely on their neighbours to let them borrow their land to site the whole 1000+ acres event in the Vale of Avalon. It's a big commitment to expect them not to use their farmland for development or other purposes so they can keep the Festival sited on it each year.

There are no acts confirmed yet for 2016, but with the new specially commissioned massive Other Stage, surely there's a good chance of major touring acts taking up that space in future. Could we see six big names at the top of the bill next year?

This year's event had warm nights, and mainly dry days, meaning most people's experience of it will be positive. We'll be bringing you our full review and hundreds of photographs once we've had a chance to sort through them all.

Expect ticket demand to be high for next year's event. Ticket details including prices have not yet been announced. Tickets in the first sale will be reserved using the deposit scheme. All registered festival-goers who want to buy tickets will be able reserve them using the deposit scheme on a date to be announced (most likely to be the first Sunday in October. Balance payments will be taken in the Spring on the Seetickets website and booking line.

Anyone aged 13 or over (when the Festival starts) who wishes to buy a ticket must be registered. Registration requires providing basic contact details and uploading a passport-standard photo. Once the photo has been approved, registers are sent a unique registration number that will need to be quoted to book a ticket.

Registration does not reserve or guarantee you a ticket in the resale, but if you don't register you will not be able to buy a weekend ticket for Glastonbury Festival 2016.

Each ticket sold will feature a photograph of the person in whose name it is registered and will be non-transferable. An existing registration can be checked here.
