Bosses of T in the Park have stated that the tokens payment system the festival has used since it began in the mid-1990s has been scrapped. All bars at the new site at Strathallan Castle in Perthshire will now accept cash, in an effort to cut down on queuing time and complaints.

T in the Park will also for the first time have a licensed supermarket at this summer’s festival which will increase mean campers will no longer have to wander off-site to get supplies.

Both the shop and the scrapping of tokens was approved by councillors as part of the festival’s alcohol licence, the store’s opening hours have been restricted due to concerns from police it could encourage 'impulse buying and binge drinking'.

During the Perth and Kinross Council’s licensing board meeting it was also revealed there will be 17 bar, and attempts will be put in place to limit the amount of alcohol people can buy over the weekend, up to 24 cans per day, the Challenge 25 programme would be robustly enforced by staff, and anyone who appeared inebriated would also be refused drink.

Promoter DF Concerts are also considering creating an alcohol-free campsite area at the fewstival in future years.

The 22nd edition see the the event for 92,000 music fans happen over full three days from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th July and features a line-up including Kasabian, The Libertines, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds The Prodigy, Stereophonics, Avicii, David Guetta, Sam Smith, Rudimental, Fatboy Slim, Hozier, Mark Ronson (DJ set), The Script, Twin Atlantic, alt-J, George Ezra, Jessie J, Courteeners, The Vaccines, Art Department, The Proclaimers, St. Vincent, Jamie T, Paloma Faith, Above & Beyond, Alabama Shakes, Kodaline, Catfish & the Bottlemen, Clean Bandit, and many more.
