Hip-hop star Kanye West has been announced as the Saturday night headlining act at this year's Glastonbury Festival

Organisers announced, "We’re very excited to reveal that Kanye West will headline the Saturday night of this year’s Glastonbury Festival. This will be the rapper’s first appearance at the Festival."

Emily Eavis posted on Twitter, “We are thrilled to let you know we have the one and only Kanye West headlining Saturday night on the Pyramid stage!”

This year's sold out Glastonbury Festival runs for five full days from Wednesday 24th until Sunday 28th June 2015 across over a 1,000 acres of beautiful countryside at Worthy Farm, Pilton in Somerset.

Tickets are priced at £220 + £5 booking fee per ticket + postage per booking with up to a maximum of 6 tickets able to be booked at once.Tickets could be reserved using the deposit scheme at a price of £50 per ticket.

Ticket balances for both UK and international buyers of £170 per ticket, will be payable from 9am Wednesday 1st April –  11:59pm Tuesday 7th April, when there will also be options to book everything else needed (tipis, campervan tickets, parking, cancellation protection). International buyers must use a credit card (with a non-UK billing address). Car park tickets will be priced at £25 and campervan ticket will be priced at £90.

As ever, entry includes a free programme. Once again, the Festival will be raising more than £2 million in funds for Oxfam, Wateraid, Greenpeace and and hundreds of other worthy causes, both local and international.

The only acts confirmed are Friday headliner Foo Fighters, plus Father John Misty, Courtney Barnett, and Lionel Richie in the teatime legends slot.

The line-up will not be announced until next month. Expect something like 2,000 performances at over 100 venues including music, cabaret, theatre, circus, a fantastic Kidz area, poetry, green crafts and information, site art, decor, and loads, loads more ... much more than just the music, so make sure you check it all out!
