His Holiness, The Dalai Lama of Tibet, had published details that he would make an appearance in Somerset this summer at Glastonbury Festival. The 79-year-old revealed the news on his website (here), announcing that his Holiness will be giving a morning talk on the final day of this year's event.

The announcement on his website said, "Public Talk in Glastonbury, Somerset, England on June 28: His Holiness will give a talk at the Glastonbury Festival in the morning."

Update: This has since been removed from his website. The Dalai Lama Centre For Compassion is still cattying the news (here). We are awating news from official Glastonbury Festival sources about this.

The head monk of Tibetan Buddhism, his Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, was recognised as the reincarnation of the previous 13th Dalai Lama, Thubten Gyatso at the age of two. The Dalai Lama was traditionally responsible for the governing of Tibet, until the Chinese government took control in 1959.

In 2013 his monks, The Gyuto Monks of Tibet, returned to the UK for the first time in 40 years to perform in the Greenfields at the Festival to mark the 100th anniversary of the Tibetan Declaration of Independence, the monks built a symbolic picture of the universe out of coloured sand. The throat singing monks have recorded an album in their Himalayan monastery called 'Chants: The Spirit of Tibet'.

The Dalai Lama's message of compassion and mutual understanding is scheduled in for the Sunday morning Pyramid Stage slot.

This year's sold out Glastonbury Festival runs for five full days from Wednesday 24th until Sunday 28th June 2015 across over a 1,000 acres of beautiful countryside at Worthy Farm, Pilton in Somerset.

As ever, entry includes a free programme. Once again, the Festival will be raising more than £2 million in funds for Oxfam, Wateraid, Greenpeace and and hundreds of other worthy causes, both local and international.

The only act confirmed is Lionel Richie in the teatime legends slot. There are no other acts confirmed yet for 2015, the line-up will not be announced until spring. Expect something like 2,000 performances at over 100 venues including music, cabaret, theatre, circus, a fantastic Kidz area, poetry, green crafts and information, site art, decor, and loads, loads more ... much more than just the music, so make sure you check it all out!

As usual eFestivals will bring you the very best-sourced rumours, allowing festival-goers to see who is playing long before the bands are formally announced - keep your eyes on the Glastonbury 2015 rumours, updated as we receive information.
