Organisers of last weekend's Boardmasters in Cornwall had to cancel arena events yesterday due to the weather. The final day of the three-day festival was due to be headlined by Bastille.

A statement from organisers yesterday said,

"In light of the extreme weather conditions caused by hurricane Bertha, today’s events at Watergate Bay have been cancelled. The international surf competition will be going ahead at Fistral Beach, as planned.

Your safety and wellbeing are our primary concern and we have decided that the magnitude of the conditions is too severe for the arena site to be opened.

We deeply regret the disappointment caused and look forward to Boardmasters 2015.

Yesterday's Boardmasters 2014 surf champions fought it out in the surf with the Men's Open won by Jock Barnes, DAVIDOFF Cool Water Longboard Pro went to Ben Skinner, and the SunGod Women's Open Champion was Keisha Eyre.

Although the Watergate Bay site wa closed due to the extreme weather conditions caused by Hurricane Bertha, the waves rolled in at Fistral for the finals. Thanks to a Supermoon the tide reached a high of 7.3 ft, which brought with it big and challenging conditions. Perfect for a day of thrilling surf competition.

Surf commentator Nick Williams at Fistral Beach said, "Our final day of Boardmasters 2014 has come to a close. Today started with super tough conditions on the low tide with the surfers way out, we needed every pair of eyes from the judges tent to identify every surfer in the line-up. Nevertheless we got through three divisions today, the Davidoff Cool Water Longboard Pro, Sungod Womens Open and the Mens Open. Ultimately with the tide filling in during the day, conditions were a little bit more predictable and we once again saw a fully packed beach with capacity crowds. Despite one shower that came in off the ocean, today went pretty flawlessly."

The other two headliners performed, Snoop Dogg on Saturday and Chase & Status on the opening night.

The Beach Sessions went ahead as normal with Skindred, and Jettblack on Wednesday, and Fink, Sunset Sons, Thomas J Speight, and Marcus McCoan on Thursday.

The event is held at Watergate Bay, in Cornwall with music programmed across nine stages plus action sports including surf, skate, and bmx.
