Godiva festival adds We Are Scientists, and Funeral for a Friend

New Yorkers We Are Scientists, and Welsh rockers Funeral For A Friend are the latest brace of acts for the FREE Godiva Festival, happening from Friday 4th until Sunday 6th July 2014 at War Memorial Park.

Councillor Lynnette Kelly, Cabinet Member with responsibility for events said, "I’m really happy to announce that two more great live bands are to take to the main stage for this year’s Coventry Godiva Festival. Both bands are very popular and are well-known on the music circuit and I’m looking forward to seeing them rock the main stage on the Saturday.

"Getting bands of this calibre and profile to come to Coventry is yet another example of how highly rated the festival has become and I’m sure both acts will go down well on the day.

"Our ambition is to put Coventry on the national map for events thereby attracting people from around the country to the city and once they are here, see what a great city we have and what it can offer."

They join Saturday main stage headliners Happy Mondays, plus Buzzcocks, The Selecter, and Skabilly Rebels, who will be performing in the Rhythm Tent on Saturday night. They are the first acts to be revealed for this year's line-up.

Godiva will be covering music to suit all tastes and featuring the ever-popular Godiva Unsigned, showcasing fresh, local talent.

In addition to live musical the free and ticketless event was also hosts an annual carnival, a fairground and many more family and community based activities and entertainment.
