Radio 1 reveals free Big Weekend in Glasgow

BBC Radio 1 have announced that their 11th annual free Big Weekend will take place in Glasgow Green, Glasgow, in Scotland last visited in 2004. This year the free festival will take place over two days on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th May 2014.

This event is run in a different location within the United Kingdom each time. It is the biggest free live music event in the UK and always includes a host of new artists.

Rita Ora, and Paolo Nutini are the first acts confirmed to perform. Over 60,000 music fans will be able to enjoy performances from big name acts and new music, there will also be a night dedicated to dance music on Friday 23rd May.

Tickets will be free and are obtained through a lottery. There is no charge for the concert itself, but a handling fee per ticket will be applied to help cover all associated ticket handling costs. The majority of the tickets for BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend 2014 are being allocated to people living in Lanarkshire and the surrounding boroughs. Registration is not yet open.
