Electronic duo Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary, better know as Modeselektor have stepped up as headliners to perform live at Bristol's Simple Things Festival after their fellow German electronic musician Sascha Ring aka Apparat had a motorcycle accident forcing the cancellation of his headlining collaboration with the pair as Moderat.

A statement from Simple Things says,

"As we’re sure many of you have heard, Sascha Ring, aka Apparat and one third of our headliners Moderat, has been involved in a motorcycle accident in Berlin. He’s doing well, but due to a complicated leg fracture, Moderat have been forced to reschedule their tour for early next year.

We at Simple Things are obviously hugely disappointed with this turn of events, and wish Sascha all the best with his recovery. But the show must go on, and we can announce that in place of Moderat, Modeselektor will be stepping in to perform a live set. One of the most revered electronic acts on the planet, their inimitable brand of live techno will provide a more heavyweight alternative to our other headliner, Nicolas Jaar, and we’re enormously excited to have such a world-renowned institution on our bill.

We are aware that the press release from Moderat stated that all tickets for arranged shows would be valid for their rescheduled dates. However this unfortunately cannot be the case in this instance. Unlike many of the other dates, this wasn't a straight-forward, standalone show. As a festival with 80 other acts appearing on the day, tickets for Simple Things and for any other dates are not in any way exchangeable.

We hope you understand our situation. Again, we wish Sascha a speedy recovery."

Simple Things is a one day music and visual festival which returns for a third year on Saturday, 12th October, and across a cross section of existing Bristol city centre venues and new creative spaces.

The line-up features Nicolas Jaar, Pantha Du Prince, These New Puritans, Jon Hopkins, No Age, Marcel Dettmann, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Portico Quartet, Connan Mockasin, Dopplereffekt, Craig Richards, Darkstar, Tall Ships, Planet Mu DJs, The Field, Maurice Fulton, Hyetal, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Seams, Letherette, Hookworms, Doc Daneeka, Benjamin Damage, Futureboogie DJs, Typesun, Appleblim, Islet, Oliver Wilde, Ital Tek, DjRUM, Wet Nuns, No Ceremony, Paws, Fear Of Men, Eagulls, Vessels, Girl Band, Outboxx, A.z.&T.o.r, Pardon My French, Moko, Glass Animals, Temple Songs, Summits, Empty Pools, Fair Ohs, Fimber Bravo, Dam Mantle, Arrows of Love, Spectres, Only Real, Joey Fourr, Gramrcy, The Kelly Twins, Seka, Idles, Nick Bennett, Face + Heel, Splashh, The Portillo Moment, The Invisible, and King Midas Sound.
