Wilko Johnson, the legendary guitarist of 70s Rock band Dr Feelgood  andfounding father of the British punk movement has been announced for Cornbury Music Festival which takes place at The Great Tew Estate, at Chipping Norton over three days from Friday 5th until Sunday 7th July 2013.

On leaving Dr Feelgood, Wilko formed the first incarnation of The Wilko Johnson Band and was also a mainstay of The Blockheads, co-writing a number of songs with Ian Dury. Fans of the cult American series Game of Thrones will recognise Wilko as the executioner Ilyn Payne.

Wilko was diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer last year, but decided to spend his final months touring instead of undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

Wilko says, "It seems that I am still being spared the final onslaught of my terminal cancer. As the memory of the Farewell Tour recedes I am feeling again the desire to get up on stage and do my thing while health allows – so that's why I have decided to make some festival appearances during the summer. Our visit to Cornbury in 2011 was a happy one and I am delighted that we can return once more to this fine festival."

"It's a huge thrill for me to have one of greatest guitarists of all time at our 10th anniversary festival." added promoter Hugh Phillimore.

Wilko will perform on Sunday July 7th at 2.30pm on the festival's Pleasant Valley Stage. The line-up of music for the 10th year of the event includes Squeeze, Seth Lakeman, and Keane headline. Also confirmed are Van Morrison, Beverley Knight, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Proclaimers, Bellowhead, Tift Merritt, Imelda May, The Overtones, King Charles, Nell Bryden, Matthew Lee, James Arthur, Jack Savoretti, Lawson, Emilia Mitiku, Osibisa, JJ Grey, Velvet Stream, Staxs, Amy Macdonald, Lucy Spraggan, The Riptide Movement, Sadie & the Hotheads, The Chipping Norton Allstars, Bo Bruce, and more.
