The first acts have been announced for Sidmouth Folk Week 2013 eight days filled with folk music, singing, dancing, pub sessions, concerts, and cream teas, focused in the centre of Sidmouth, Devon and on the sea front. The dates for 2013 are Friday 2nd to Friday 9th August.

As early bird tickets go on sale, so the first acts are unveiled, with the concert marquee presenting Ham Concert Marquee evening concerts from the likes of Capercaillie, Show of Hands, Miranda Sykes, The Spooky Men's Chorale, Maddy Prior, Flook, Le Vent du Nord, massed ranks of fiddles and song from Carthy, Hardy, Farrell & Young, Coope, Boyes & Simpson, Emily Portman Trio, and Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Haas.

The Ham afternoon shows host Nic Jones and his trio making a regular return to performing. Also on the billare Blowzabella, Roy Bailey, Saltfishforty, Nancy Kerr & James Fagan, Bella Hardy & The Midnight Watch, Lady Maisery, The Melrose Quartet, and the combined forces of Eliza Carthy and Tim Eriksen.

Also confirmed are Lau, Peatbog Faeries, Maddy Prior with Hannah James and Giles Lewin, Jaipur Kawa Brass Band, John Kirkpatrick, Sandra Kerr, and Jess and Richard Arrowsmith.

The special shows in The Manorinclude the staging of Short Sharp Shanties featuring Jackie Oates, Jeff Warner, Keith Kendrick, Doug Bailey, and Tom & Barbara Brown; as well as 'Under Her Skin' with Debs Newbold, and Laurel Swift.

Sidmouth will also see performances from Toothless Mary, Blackbeard's Tea Party, Bedlam, Flowers and Frolics, Mr Gubbin's Bicycle, Steamchicken, The Gloworms, The English String Band, Cis Hinkle, Joe Hodgson, Frances Richardson, Les Barclay, David and Kathryn Wright, Ivan Aitken, Jerry O'Reilly, Pendragon, Moonlighting, Momentum, The Jovial Crew Band, and Mollie Koenigsberger.

Smaller, intimate concerts and sessions include traditional music and song events at The Woodlands Hotel hosted by John Howson, and Dan Quinn. Guests so far include Jim and Lynette Eldon, Jeff Warner, Bob Lewis, Will Duke, Roger Digby and Liz Giddings, Pete Shepheard, and Arthur Watson.

Kennaway House is home to afternoon concerts hosted again by fRoots with Emily Portman Trio, and Tim Eriksen the first guests confirmed.

Lester Simpson's Songwriter Interviews and evening shows will feature Colum Sands, Dave Burland, Paul Downes, Steve Turner, and Askew Sisters.

Plus Dance Sides including Berkshire Bedlam, Boggarts Breakfast, Flag & Bone, Gog Magog Molly, Outside Capering Crew, Sallyport Sword and Rapper, Silver Flame Rapper, Stoney Steppers, Stroud Ladies, Whip the Cat, and Witchmen.

Plus the New Children's Festival, Snapshot Productions, Noisy Oyster Theatre's Da Silva Marionette Circus Troupe, and Peter Optical. With many more still to be announced.

As well as live music, expect ceilidh dances, social dance bands & callers, workshops, a dance display, processions, craft fair, a themed children's festival, fun and games and more, with the festival spread across several venues throughout the town, over an 8 day period.

Reduced early bird tickets are on sale until 31st March 2013 for all Season Tickets. The prices currently are £248 for all-in-one adult ticket, £170 for an adult week ticket, £68 for a full weekend ticket, and £32 for an adult day ticket. Ticket options also available for young adult (aged 18-24 years), a youth (aged 12-17 years), child (aged 7-11 years), with children aged under 7 able to attend for free. All-in-One, Week and Weekend tickets will now be wristbanded, rather than card tickets.

New for 2013 is a family ticket – buy an adult ticket and pay for one Child or Youth, and get the next Child (7-11) Ticket FREE (a saving up to £76!) plus Student Discount tickets (20% off the Adult price for both students and unpaid interns aged between 18 and 24).

There will be charges for using the campsite. A week camping pass is available if you have bought an All-in-One, week ticket, or Campsite Passport. Week long camping is priced: Family Deal £160, Adult £60, Youth £30, Children under 12 FREE, Caravan/Motorhome Supplement £30. Weekend camping is priced: Adult £26, Youth £13, Children under 12 FREE. Day camping is priced: Adult £12, Youth £6, Children under 12 FREE. A Campsite Passportalso needs to purchased if you want to buy Camping Tickets without buying a Festival Season Ticket, this is priced at £36.
