Could The Rolling Stones have leaked details of their first festival appearance next summer at Coachella Valley Music Festival California's twin weekend event.

The Rolling Stones
The band released a mobile app last month, and over the weekend it listed a new live date on Friday 12th April 12, 2013 in Indio at Coachella 2013 at 12.15pm.

Music magazine Rolling Stone, (here) reported news of the date which had been quickly taken down, but only after fans were able to take screengrabs, listing news of the show.

Speculators draw attention to the fact that whilst the Rolling Stones' 50-year anniversary celebration has seen gigs in New York and London there has been the absence of any West Coast gigs.

It does seem strange that the festival which shares exactly the same line-up over two weekends is only mentioned once, but whilst both the date and the time appear incorrect, it is an official app, the screengrabs are reported as genuine, and could perhaps be a strong 'accidental' hint from those around the band to fans that they are preparing to appear at the Californian festival.

Rolling Stone itself quotes an interview it had with Stones guitarist Keith Richard in October, while discussing the Rolling Stones' 50th anniversary dates in London and New York, where Keith Richards told them, "My experience with the Rolling Stones is that once the juggernaut starts rolling, it ain't gonna stop. So without sort of saying definitely yes – yeah. We ain't doing all this for four gigs!"

Which may be good news to those interested in that rumoured Glastonbury Festival date next year, although all this could also be just self promotion for the new app. The Rolling Stones also offer a free mobile updates service, available by texting ROLLINGSTONES to 82665 (texts are completely free to you with the exception of the initial registration text, which will cost your standard network charge), although this did not transmit the error.

The Rolling Stones rarely play festivals last appearing at the Isle of Wight in 2007, their first U.K. festival performance in three decades. The difference between Coachella and Glastonbury Festival is how much they will get paid to appear, and money is something that's important to the band.

For the second time next year Coachella will again be held over held over two consecutive weekends, with the line-ups expected to be repeated for each identical three-day span.

The dates for 2013 are confirmed as Friday 12th to Sunday 14th April for weekend one, and again a week later from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st April for weekend two.

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (aka Coachella) the three-day annual music and arts festival is held at the Empire Polo Fields in Indio, California, in the Inland Empire's Coachella Valley. The event features a wide choice of genres of music including alternative rock, hip hop, and electronic music as well as large scale sculptural art.

Pre sale tickets were priced at $349 (approx £220) for general admission 3 day pass, including parking and camping. General release tickets are not currently on sale.
