According to the Daily Star, (here) The Stone Roses are lined up to play next summer's Glastonbury and Isle Of Wight Festivals.

The newspaper reports, "The Stone Roses play their homecoming shows this weekend at Manchester's Heaton Park from Friday for three gigs. Next summer they'll headline Glastonbury and Isle Of Wight festivals."

Our understanding is that things are not as solid as they are reporting, however our belief is that The Stone Roses are in the frame to headline both festivals.

The Stone Roses owe Glastonbury Festival a show after their billed appearance in 1995, at the 25th anniversary of the first Festival was cancelled the week before the event, and they were replaced by Pulp, although they did appear at the Pilton Show in September instead.

The fact the newspaper suggests the band will be playing the Isle Of Wight Festival is also given more weight by an interview the Isle Of Wight boss John Giddings gave eFestivals two weeks ago, here. Giddings was asked if he was already considering next year's headliners, and he replied, "In March this year somebody called me up and asked me if I was interested in booking their headline act for next year, and I said yes and pencilled in the date. But, let's see after we get this one done and over, and the summer out the way, let's see what happens, because people often change their plans, their line-ups, whatever. So, never tempt fate." The fact the Giddings alluded to the 'line-up' possibly changing came only days after what turned out to be false rumours that the Stone Roses' drummer Reni had walked out of their tour.

The Isle of Wight Festival moves back to its usual weekend and is expected to run from Thursday 6th until Sunday 9th June 2013. There are no acts confirmed yet for 2013. Ticket prices have not yet been confirmed and are not yet on sale.

Glastonbury Festival is taking a year out this year, and would have been happened last weekend - in dreadful weather. The festival will return next year from Wednesday 26th until Sunday 30th June 2013. There are no acts confirmed yet for 2013.

Everyone who plans to the come Glastonbury Festival must register in advance in order to be able to obtain their ticket, and that includes children aged 13, 14 and 15. All ticket holders (not just the person who purchases the tickets for a group) MUST register in advance so that their ticket can have their photo printed onto the ticket.

Registration does not reserve or guarantee you a ticket, but if you don't register you will not be able to buy a ticket for Glastonbury Festival 2013.

Online registration for 2013 can be carried out by clicking here.

If you have registered to buy tickets to Glastonbury Festival before, you may well still be registered (you now only need to do it once), but it's advisable that you check your registration now by clicking here. If you can't find it, the best bet is to re-register - much better to get it all sorted not now than to discover your registration has expired on the day of the ticket sale.
