Ash have been revealed as the final headliners for this year's Galtres Festival.

Ash
They will be headlining Saturday night on the main Duke Stage, joining the Guillemots at the top of that day's bill.

The three-piece are filling the Galtres slot taken last year by The Charlatans, have turned their back on the traditional route of recording an album every couple of years and set up their own studio and label, Atomic Heart Records. This freedom enabled the band to record and release songs at will. Thus was born the A-Z Series – a collection of 26 songs released fortnightly for an entire year. 2011 saw Charlotte Hatherley return for a one-off tour of the 'Free All Angels' album, and a Galtres appearance by Charlotte is looking likely.

2012 sees the 20th anniversary of the band, with the Galtres Festival show being part of the celebrations. "This is a great and much-anticipated booking for us," said festival director James Houston. "Ash are a fabulous live band will no go down a storm on Saturday night. This announcement is the last of our major headliners, which together form an eclectic mix of very fine musicians and top stars. It's shaping up to be the best Galtres Festival yet."

Headlined by Buzzcocks and Simon & Oscar from Ocean Colour Scene acoustic (Friday), Guillemots join Ash on Saturday, and Adam Ant, Billy Bragg, Seth Lakeman and The Men They Couldn't Hang (Sunday), with supports including Hope & Social, Littlemores, The Travelling Band, Ellen & the Escapades, and Jon Gomm, with many. The Firkin Stage next to the beer tent will have a few open mic slots over the weekend for those wanting to play the festival. For the line-up details as available please click here..

Festival organisers have booked more big names this year than ever before for the annual festival which takes place in Crayke, near York, to add to the 100 or so bands and artists performing over the August bank holiday weekend. The Galtres festival started out as a beer and cider festival that included local based musicians and has gone through a change over the last couple of years and is now considered more of a music festival that has some great locally produced beers/ciders on sale.

The family friendly festival will be taking place over three days this year on August bank holiday weekend, from Friday 24th to Sunday 26th August once again at Crayke, near York, Yorkshire.

An adult ticket is priced at £90, child (aged 5 -17 years) tickets are priced at £35, a family ticket (2 adults and up to three children) is priced at £250. Day tickets are priced at £50 for adults. Please note that prices will go up each month. To buy tickets, click here.
