Professor Green is the first headlining act to be announced amongst the first raft of act announced for Liverpool Sound City taking place this May.

Professor Green's second album, the follow up to 'Alive Till I’m Dead' is due for release this summer and he will be premiering tracks from it, alongside hits like 'I Need You Tonight', 'Just Be Good To Green', 'Monster' and 'Jungle' at Liverpool Sound City. Prof Green said, "Liverpool is always a highlight of any tour so I'm delighted to be able to confirm LSC. I can't wait to get back there. Liverpool! Lets have it!"

The first raft of acts to join Stephen Manderson at Liverpool Sound City are White Denim, Death In Vegas, Cloud Nothings, Yukon Blonde, Charli XCX, and Fixers.

Liverpool Sound City returns for three days and nights from Thursday 17th to Saturday 19th May and is held at multiple venues and spaces in Liverpool's cultural quarter.

Alongside live performance Liverpool Sound City also hosts a 'Convention' each year which focus is on bringing together a vast array of creative and digital industries business professionals, artists, music, film and art fans to enjoy today'’s best new music and chart the future course of the music, digital and creative industries.

This year Liverpool Sound City will also be hosting the 'UK Music Student Awards' at the Echo Arena on Thursday 17th May. Launched by George Martin, the awards are in collaboration with Access To Music and are hosted by BBC Radio 1's Edith Bowman.

This year the event launches the 'Sound City Expo' which will be fully integrated into both the convention and live programme. Held at the Echo Arena in Liverpool it will showcase with exhibitors and provide access for both consumers and music/digital professionals to people, tools and services alongside live demos, master classes, discussions and more featuring many performers and speakers.

Dave Pichilingi, CEO Sound City commented "We're thrilled to announce the first wave of bands that'll make up the line-up for Liverpool Sound City 2012 - an eclectic mix of genres that makes our festival such an interesting, innovative, must-see event.

"We're taking Sound City to whole new level this year by bringing in Access To Music and co-hosting the UK Music Student Awards, which shows our commitment to the new breed of musicians and those who work in the music industry, as well as being a great excuse for a party. We're also launching our very own Sound City Expo - an exhibition of what's new and interesting in music and tech for fans, bands and delegates alike."

Sound City wristbands allow entry to ALL Liverpool Sound City 2012 branded gigs on a first come first served basis subject to the individual venues capacity. Please note some gigs will be 18+ only.

Liverpool Sound City also features conferences and panels with seasoned veterans and younger voices, the commemorative John Peel World Cup, and legendary keynote speakers and special guests.
