The Express Newspaper yesterday suggested,(here), that the remaining members of the band were set to reunite and perform at the closing ceremony of London 2012 Olympics on Sunday 12th August 2012.

The NME, (here), quotes a representative for Gilmour as saying, "David Gilmour can confirm that there is no truth in recent media speculation about Pink Floyd reuniting to perform for the 2012 London Olympics.."

The classic lineup of the band has not performed since 2005's Live 8 charity concert, but David Gilmour and Nick Mason briefly teamed up for a brief reunion with Roger Waters on stage at London's O2 Arena last year during the latter's 'The Wall' tour.

The Express story also proposed that Paul McCartney may make an appearance, that rumour has not yet been squashed by The Beatles' bass player.

The London 2012 Festival will be a 12-week summer long UK-wide cultural celebration of arts and creativity that opens on Tuesday 21 June 2012, Midsummer's Day, and runs until the last day of the Paralympic Games on Wednesday 9th September 2012 with an opening and closing ceremony - Underworld have already been announced as Music Directors for the Opening Ceremony taking place on Friday 27th July.
