Organisers of Ignition Festival which was due to take place on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th August 2011 at Newcastle Racecourse in Gosforth Park, in Newcastle upon Tyne have gone into liquidation.

Back in august Ignition Ltd has issued a statement saying the event, set to feature Echo And The Bunnymen, Frank Turner, The Go! Team, Carl Barat, and Calvin Harris, was cancelled after Newcastle Racecourse revealed organisers had failed to submit a safety plan, details of security, first aid provision and necessary planning documentation.

Now Ignition Festival Limited, the Newcastle based company behind the event, has called in the liquidators to close the company down.

An automated email response reveals, "Ignition Festival Limited was placed into Creditors Voluntary Liquidation on 11th November 2011.

The vast majority of tickets sold for the event were bought using credit/debit cards. Customers who paid using these methods should be able to recover the amounts paid from the respective card providers. In the first instant customers should contact their card provider to ask what the process is to reclaim funds from the card provider. Where required the Liquidator will confirm to card suppliers that where payment was made for tickets, that the Festival was called off and therefore no services were provided for the amount paid
."

Whilst those who bought the £50 tickets online can expect to be refunded, many who paid cash for their tickets are still waiting for their money back, and may not now receive a refund.
