Hove's spokesman, Gaute Drevdal, said of the headliner announcement, "With respect to last summer's stunning conclusion with Deadmau5 at the Amphitheatre - it is no surprise that Skrillex will be involved in headlining Hove this year. Few other artists deliver such a complete and spectacular show, and few have an equally festive crowd. The pressure from the public (to book him) has been tremendous, and it feels really good to achieve that."
The other first acts to be confirmed are US rapper Kreayshawn, indie rockers Real Estate, and fellow American Metalcore act August Burns Red.
Hove Festival mixes international acts with Norwegian bands in a unique setting on Tromøya island outside Arendal city. The event lasts five days with the sun only setting for two hours each night. The dates for 2012 are Tuesday 26th until Friday 29th June.
The Hove Festival was the first festival outside of Britain to join Festival Republic, the organizers involved with Reading/Leeds Festival, and Latitude.
Hove Festival tries to set new standards for environmental awareness and campers must sign eco-contract that promises not to leave a 'single footprint' behind. Besides the music there's art installations, scenes, yet-to-be-released movies and ecological food.
A festival pass is priced at 2250 NOK (approx £242) including camping, or 2150 NOK without camping. To buy tickets, click here.
