Musical comedian Tim Minchin has been announced for The Green Man Festival alongside news that tickets are about to sell out.

Tim Minchin
The Australian, piano-playing, song-singing comic will get Green Man 2011 off to a flying start with a very special gig for those arriving early on Thursday 18th August.

Speaking exclusively to Green Man from New York, Tim said, "People say Green Man is fantastic and not overgrown and overblown. I'm in the States at the moment, playing smaller rooms with just me and my piano... and loving it. I'm really looking forward to getting back to solo gigs in the UK."

Alongside Tim's intimate Thursday night set, Green Man’s usual mouth-watering array of delicious gourmet food – and cider – will be on offer around the site.

The Chai Wallahs Stage will also be opening on the Thursday offering sets from six live bands and DJs, and food and drink outlets will be open around the site.

The musical line-up appearing in the Brecon Beacons, Powys, Wales over the weekend of Friday 19th to Sunday 21st August includes Explosions In The Sky, Fleet Foxes, Iron And Wine, Laura Marling, Bellowhead, The Low Anthem, Villagers, The Burns Unit, The Ramshackle Union Band, Robyn Hitchcock, Sic Alps, The Gentle Good, The Travelling Band, Holy Fuck, Ellen and the Escapades, The Leisure Society, Lia Ices, Hannah Peel, Admiral Fallow, Duotone, Driver Drive Faster, Ute, Oh Ruin, The Doozer, Our Broken Garden, Emily Barker, 2:54, Bleeding Heart Narrative, Mancub Babywoman, Tweak Bird, Polar Bear, Dry The River, Wild Nothing, and more. There are many more acts still to be announced.
