Festival Director Alan Surtees said: "I'm really pleased that we've been able to get tickets on sale and to give people an idea of what they can expect from a weekend at Shrewsbury. We had phenomenal feedback from this year's event and we've read every comment and will be using that to hone the festival to make it the best we can. We're really committed to growing Shrewsbury as a quality event which is something I think artists and festival goers appreciate. The atmosphere at Shrewsbury has to be experienced to be believed and we look forward to welcoming old and new friends in 2011."

The Shrewsbury Folk Festival was formerly known as the Bridgnorth Folk Festival, and is a four day event blending a tradition of folk music and dance and offers musical and cultural diversity in a family friendly format. In 2011 the festival takes place from Friday 26th until Monday 29th August.

Organisers have pledged to keep the festival at the same size as 2010 and have announced key changes to the second music marquee that will make it larger with a better layout and to the dance tent, which will have a new style of dance floor.

Early bird tickets (bought before Friday 1st April) are priced at £98 for a full weekend ticket, a family ticket (2 adults & 2 youths 11-17 years) is priced at £284.50. (Youth 11-17 years) tickets are £60. And concession tickets are priced at £93. Tickets for children under 11 years are free. A camping ticket is priced at £18 (per adult). Day tickets will also be available. To buy tickets, click here.

The festival features five music venues, a dance tent, dozens of workshops, a children's festival, Refolkus a dedicated youth programme for 12 to 25 -year-olds, on-site camping, a craft fair and food village.

It also raises funds every year for its charity partner Hope House Hospice to fund its music therapy work for children with life limiting illnesses. Over the past three years, donations from festival goers and £1 from every adult ticket sold has helped to raise nearly £15,000.
