For the first time in history Glastonbury Festival organisers have had their new licence application approved without the need for a hearing.

eFestivals can exclusively reveal that the new licence for changes to the licensing conditions has been granted by Mendip District Council, the new licence will cover the Festival until 2016, and allow for the event to be held in 2011, taking 2012 as a fallow year.

The application will not now have to be considered by councillors at a hearing because there have been no objections, and the only only previous objection by Devon and Somerset Fire And Rescue Service has been mediated and a solution found.

Jason Kirkwood, Principal Licensing Officer at Mendip District Council revealed the news to eFestivals and stated, "This is the first time that there won't be a hearing (for Glastonbury Festival) amending the application. I've been here since 2001 and it's never happened before, as far as I know. The objections have been mediated to a mutually agreeable solution, and so the amendments (to the licence) will go straight through."

The application which is a detailed document included a request for car parks and campervan and caravan areas to open on Tuesday, with extra car parking, and camping space also made available. The new plans also include a new access road to the site. Glastonbury Festival will announce more details of how these changes will operate in the future, and eFestivals will keep you informed.

Tickets have sold out for this year's Glastonbury Festival which runs for five full days from Wednesday 23rd until Sunday 27th June 2010 across over a 1,000 acres of beautiful countryside at Worthy Farm, Somerset. eFestivals believes the next sale of tickets will be sometime from the beginning of March, we will of course keep you updated of any news in the meantime.

Only headliners U2, and Jack Johnson, plus breaking talent My Luminaire, and John E Vistic are confirmed for the Festival. eFestivals will bring you the very best-sourced rumours between now and the official line-up announcement at the end of May/beginning of June, allowing festival-goers to see who is playing long before the bands are formally announced - keep your eyes on the Glastonbury 2010 rumours, updated as we receive information.
