Ash to headline Sunday at Kendal Calling

more acts announced including Idlewild, Frank Turner, Stanton Warriors, and more

Ash top the latest raft of new additions to the line-up at this summer's Kendal Calling festival.

Ash will be headlining the Main Stage on Sunday night, following on from Scottish rockers Idlewild.

Saturday night Main Stage new additions include Twisted Wheel, Nine Black Alps, and Red Light Company, with Friday's new additions including Goldie Lookin' Chain, and Middleman.

Stanton Warriors will headline the Traffic Dance Tent on Saturday, with Krafty Kuts, Aim, and Death on the Balcony also confirmed.

Frank Turner, Tommy Reilly, Tarras, Mr & Mrs, and Captain Hotknives will all appear on the Kayleid Stage.

The New Music Stage will be taken over by a different host each night, Friday The Mighty Boof have picked Lo-Fi Culture Scene, Out from Animals, and Atlas. Saturday's SameTeens line-up features Chew Lips, Detroit Social Club, Tommy Sparks, and The Answering Machine, Dutch Uncles, and May Sixty Eight. On Sunday night the Club Cog present Kid British, Robb Blake, Lucid Dream, and Spuds.

The Comedy Stage will feature musical comedy from Howard Marks, Duncan Oakley, Ruth Cockburn, Dan Nightingale, Matt Seber, Andy Rannard, Sam Gore, and Chris Roche.

Organiser's have also to confirmed that SNO!zone will be bringing around 50-tonnes of snow to create a toboggan run and Snowbeach at this year's festival. Tongue-Fu, hosted by Ventriloquist is making its first visit to the festival, combining performance poetry with improvised music.

Another addition for 2009 will be The Holy Quail pub, powered by solar energy, and The Witch and The Robot will be hosting TWATr Freakshow Disco and a meat raffle.

Co-founder and organiser, Ben Robinson, commented, "It's great to get the line up out, we've been beavering away for a long time to make sure we had a collection of acts that can truly bring the Deer Park to life and stage a show people will remember for a long time to come", regarding other features added this year; "additions such as the Snowbeach, circus dance arena and Holy Quail pub are set to entertain people all weekend with things you just don't find in Cumbria on your average weekend."

These latest acts join the likes of The Streets, The Zutons, The Rumble Strips, Beardyman, Chase & Status, Shy FX, Iration Steppas, Skream, Andrew Weatherall, The Sunshine Underground, Crazy P, Noah and The Whale, Steppa, Exodus, The King Blues, Fight Like Apes, Hereldeduke, Craig Charles, The Travelling Band, The Kabeedies, Cornershop, The Yards, Riot Jazz, Kasms, and Scroobius Pip who returns to curate a night of poetry.

An adult weekend ticket is priced at £70, a child (11-14 years) weekend ticket is priced at £40, and children under 11 can attend for free, but need a ticket. To buy tickets, click here.

Kendal Calling is held in the Lake District, over the weekend of Friday 31st July to Sunday 2nd August and is a wholly independent festival returning for its fourth year in a new location at the Lowther Estate, Kendal, in East Cumbria.
