Festival Republic buy into Electric Picnic

The Irish music festival Electric Picnic has signed a new partnership agreement with concert promoter Festival Republic according to this news article in the Irish Times (here).

The new deal will involve the buying out of the interests in the festival of Irish promoter Aiken Promotions' who host much of the entertainment concerts and events in Ireland.

The investment by Festival Republic in the annual Irish festival means the Aiken stake will now be owned by Denis Desmond's Gaiety Investments, which co-owns Festival Republic with the international promotion giant Live Nation.

Melvin Benn, managing director of Festival Republic, whose portfolio of festivals includes Reading & Leeds, Latitude, Rise (with the Greater London Authority), and is involved with Glastonbury Festival said, "I have been a friend of John Reynolds for a long, long time and have been a fan of the Electric Picnic Festival since its inception; it is Ireland's version of Glastonbury as far as I am concerned and has been a great inspiration to Latitude too. I am very excited about partnering with John and his team to become part of it."

The promoter of Electric Picnic, John Reynolds of Pod Concerts, will retain retain his interest in the event.

Ireland's complete music and arts festival that offers an array of fine music, theatre, comedy, holistic health and art. Musically it's a more eclectic mix of artists than the other Irish mainstream events.

Back for its sixth year, and held a month later this year, on Friday 4th to Sunday 6th September at Stradbally Hall Estate, Co Laois - less than an hour from Dublin.

This year's Electric Picnic line-up will be announced at the start of April when tickets will also go on sale.
