Whitesnake announce themselves for Downloadand say Def Leppard will also be thereThursday 12th February 2009 The David Coverdale fronted rock band Whitesnake have announced that they will be playing one-off UK gig at this year's Download. Whitesnake have said they will be playing in an email sent to fans, and also on their MySpace site (here). The blog post also lets slip that they will be appearing on the bill with fellow seventies heavy Brit rockers Def Leppard. The Whitesnake appearance will coincide with the Anniversary releases of the albums, 'Slip Of The Tongue', marking its 20th Anniversary, and the 'Slide It In' album, which celebrates its 25th Anniversary this year. The Sunday show at Download will mark the 4th time Whitesnake has performed Donington Park, Castle Donington, Leicestershire having previously played there in 1981, 1983, and 1990. Def Leppard became one of the top-selling rock bands throughout the 1980s, and their latest album,'Songs from the Sparkle Lounge was released last year. Their return to Donington is sure to be an emotional one. Their drummer Rick Allen lost his left arm in a car crash and he played with the band for the first time after the accident at the 1986 Monsters of Rock festival with the crowd giving him an ovation. These latest additions to the bill have not yet been confirmed by Download organisers, and were previously revealed by eFestivals. The confirmed acts for the festival which takes place over the weekend of Friday 12th to Sunday 14th June 2009 are Slipknot, Korn, Dragonforce, Devildriver, Motley Crue, Pendulum, and The Prodigy. Prices are as follows: a full weekend ticket is priced at £135, camping is an extra £25 (family camping is also available), car parking tickets are priced at £10 advance, £20 on the day, camper vans tickets are priced at £40, and lockers will be £11. -DownloadFestival08-LS06.jpg)
