Oasis are the first announcement for the Eden Sessions

The Eden Project and Oasis have officially announced a new date for the band to play at Eden. The concert on Tuesday 14th July is the first announcement for Eden's 2009 summer music programme.

The previous date, Saturday 27th September 2008, had to be cancelled due to the injury suffered by Noel Gallagher when he was assaulted in Toronto.

Tickets for the 27th September concert will be valid for the new date but any ticket holders who are not able to attend the rescheduled date should contact 0844 5670677 for a full refund.

Eden's Creative Director Peter Hampel said: "Following the disappointment of having to postpone the September gig, we are thrilled that Oasis have agreed to play at Eden on Tuesday 14th July. With winter approaching and a full schedule of arena dates for Oasis over the course of October, we agreed with the band that it would be better not to host an outdoor gig here later this year with the increasing risk of bad weather."

"They will give us the perfect mid-summer focal point to our music programme next year. While we are sorry that fans will have to wait a while to see Oasis here, we are confident that, in the difficult circumstances surrounding Noel's assault, this offers the best possible outcome for all concerned."

A statement from Oasis said: "We'd like to take this opportunity to apologise to fans for the inconvenience caused. Oasis were extremely disappointed not to be able to play the show this year and look forward to seeing you next July."

Oasis' appearance at Eden will come directly after the band's UK and Ireland stadium tour next summer.
