Mars Volta, and Tindersticks to headline Latitude's second stage
plus Seasick Steve and more acts announced for line-up at Henham Park

Thu 3rd Apr 08

Latitude Latitude 2008

Latitude Festival which happens in the grounds of the historic Henham Park Estate in Suffolk, has added more names to the bill for this the third year of the event taking place from Thursday 17th to Sunday 20th July.

Joining the line-up of music on the main stage are members of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, the sleazy rockers Grinderman make a rare festival appearance at this year's Latitude Festival. Also announced are Brighton's The Go! Team who bring their dance indie rock to the stage on the late afternoon slot. Returning to Latitude is real life hobo and guitar genius Seasick Steve playing his old school American blues.

Moving to the tented Uncut Arena the two more headliners for the weekend have been confirmed. Saturday will see the psychedelic, progressive and wild rock of Mars Volta and closing the stage on the Sunday will be Nottingham based cult stars Tindersticks who will be playing everything from Organs to Glockenspiels.

Headlining the main stage are the already confirmed Franz Ferdinand, Sigur Ros, and Interpol with Death Cab For Cutie, Elbow, The Breeders, Amadou And Mariam, and M.I.A. For the line-up details as available please click here.

With four main music arenas, The Obelisk (Main Stage), The Uncut, The Sunrise and The Lake Stage, the music will span a wide range of genres and music hand-picked especially for the festival; bands and artists are chosen with the essence of Latitude in mind. More established bands and the freshest new acts are promised.

Latitude isn't just about music, but has a full spectrum of art with individual arenas dedicated to film, theatre, poetry, literature, cabaret, and comedy.

Laughs will be provided at the Pimm's Comedy Arena which is housed in a larger tent and screens outside, headlined by comedians Bill Bailey, Ross Noble, and Rich Hall. At night, the Comedy Arena hands over to Guilty Pleasures and also Swap-A-Rama makes it's debut on Saturday night when every time the DJs ring the klaxon you must swap an item of clothing with someone next to you.

But of course, Latitude is so much more than a music festival. This year's Latitude can boast the exclusive involvement of BAFTA in the Film + Music Arena. The Literary Arena has a line-up of authors including Simon Armitage, Hanif Kureishi and Iain Banks as well as Latitude favourites Vox 'N' Roll, Word Theatre and The Early Edition with Marcus Brigstocke. Royal Court Theatre and Bush Theatre both bring exciting new shows to the Theatre Arena plus stellar poets Adrian Mitchell, John Hegley and Carol Ann Duffy are all confirmed for the Poetry Arena curated by Luke Wright. And that's not to mention Vauxhallville at the Cabaret Tent and the orchestral sounds of The Irrepressibles who will be performing on the beautiful lake setting of Henham Park!

A weekend ticket is priced at £130 and children under thirteen are free, but need tickets. Friday, Saturday or Sunday day tickets are available priced at £55. Lockers are available for £15 with built in mobile charging facilities using car cigarette lighter fittings. A standard campervan pass is £10 (Standard Green campsite) purchasers must have 'Standard' weekend camping tickets.
