Wychwood Music Festival Wychwood Music Festival 2008

Wychwood Music Festival has announced some new additions to an already inspired line-up including folk duo Spiers & Boden, bringing their unique blend of traditional English folk song with a contemporary twist. Joining John & John in the Big Top on Saturday are Kissmet, who combine elements of Bhangra, Rock, Raags and Funk. Also appearing will be young London-based Israeli singer Mor Karbasi and her spine tingling gypsy music. Wychwood also welcomes back from last year Heavy Load "The UK's only disabled punk band". To see all the latest additions to the line-up click here.

Plus for fans of comedy, Steve Steen has been added to the bill, and on Friday and Saturday he will be joined by Phill Jupitus, Andy Smart, and Stephen Frost for a 'Whose Line is it Anyway' Impro show. There's more comedy over Wychwood weekend with stand up from Sean Lock, Mundo Jazz, Jeff Green and more.

Friday's musical offerings are headlined by The Proclaimers, with other acts for the day including Robyn Hitchcock & Friends, Dreadzone, Misty's Big Adventure and The Epstein.

Saturday sees Duffy, Orchestra Baobab, The Blockheads with Phill Jupitus, Palladium, Piney Gir and many more.

Sunday is headlined by the wonderful The Imagined Village a musical treat featuring Billy Bragg, Simon Emmerson, Eliza Carthy, Martin Carthy, Sheila Chandra, Andy Gangadeen from The Bays, Francis Hylton, Johnny Kalsi from The Dhol Foundation, Barney Morse Brown, Sheema Mukherjee and Chris Wood. Other acts for the final day of this year's festival include Kate Rusby, Transglobal Underground, Emma Pollock, Dengue Fever and Rachel Unthank and The Winterset.

Wychwood Music Festival, which takes place between Friday 30th May and Sunday 1st June at Cheltenham Racecourse.

The very family-friendly Wychwood aims to be intimate and inclusive for audience and musician alike, blending world, roots and contemporary music, and encouraging new collaborations, with an ethical bent to its theme, fundraising for Oxfam. In addition to the four music stage there's also comedy, more than 100 workshops, from drumming to dancing, and more.

Tickets are on sale, priced at £100 for an adult weekend ticket and £75 for a concession weekend ticket (there is also a new 2 for 1 Disabled ticket rate). Campervans are an extra £25. Children aged 11 and under and camping remain free, but need a ticket. To buy, click here or telephone the festival office on 01993 772580.

The festival will be reverting to the same camping set up as 2006, whereby you will be able to drive up to your camping pitch, and unload your camping gear right by where you are setting up. Then emptied cars must be driven off the campsite and to the car park. After the festival, you'll be able to drive back to your pitch to load up. Also returning in 2008 will be the silent disco, back by popular demand.

eFestivals is proud to sponsor the comedy at Wychwood Music Festival, as part of our commitment to support festivals - see here for more information.

This year Wychwood has launched a podcast and you can download interviews from Simon Emmerson of The Imagined Village and the comedy curator Andy Smart, as well as a taste of some of the music you will be hearing across the weekend you can subscribe to it on itunes (here).
