All change in the Lost Vagueness area?
Fri 1st Feb 08

Glastonbury Festival Glastonbury Festival 2008

According to a bulletin posted on Lost Vagueness' Myspace (here), "after ten monumental years, the ‘festival within the festival’ which is Lost Vagueness will NOT be happening at Glastonbury 2008."

Lost Vagueness began as a small group gathering away from the throng of the festival before opening a cabaret venue on the site in 1998 and for years remained the best kept secret of the festival.

It's popularity and the space it occupied grew to include a casino, ballroom and silver service restaurant in 2000. The area reached its zenith in 2003, when Lost Vagueness was extended to include the Paradise Lost Trailer Park, casino, roller-disco, cabaret stage, Chapel of Love and Loathe, circus stage, an American diner, The Big Brother caravan, freak show, a launderette, and Meccadonalds.

Reasons for the change have not been officially revealed, but it is known that one of the organisers has no further involvement with the festival (hence the myspace message given above). eFestivals understands it's replacement could be named 'No Man's Land' and be run as a co-operative, where no one person has overall control. We understand it will still have the area's music stage which will continue to be programmed by Continental Drifts, the people who have always programmed it in this area.

It's understood that various attractions located in this area could return but it's likely there will be no chapel or casino. New for this area is likely to be the 'Bassline Circus' who mix high wire antics with twisted street theatre and digital music, and by the Joe Strummer Memorial Stone there is to be a new 'Strummerville Stage'.

We understand that other changes around the site may include the circus/big top relocating to where Trash City was located in 2007, as Trash City will be moving to the corner of the site where the Tipi Field was, next to the Lost Vagueness area, making for a bigger late night party area. We also believe that the Tipi Field could move to the Stone Circle area, however with the dates of the festival still some time away, things might change.

Glastonbury Festival 2008 takes place at Worthy Farm, Pilton over the weekend of Friday 27th to Sunday 29th June. Registration to be eligible to buy a ticket for Glastonbury Festival 2008 began today. Online registration can be carried out here.
