exclusive: headliners and other acts for Guilfest confirmed

Blondie, The Levellers, and Aussie Pink Floyd, tickets on sale today

Thursday 27th March 2008

GuilFest has revealed the headliners for all three days festival held from Friday 4th to Sunday 6th July 2008 at the idyllic location of Stoke Park, Guilford in Surrey.

Folk-punk legends The Levellers headline the opening night on Friday 4th July! The festival favourites return to GuilFest to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Pop icon Debbie Harry brings her band Blondie back to the main stage and will headline on Saturday 5th July. The Australian Pink Floyd Show will be bringing the festival to a close on Sunday 6th July with agreat tribute act performance and spectacular lightshow that's sure to provide GuilFest with an unmissable finale.

Saturday will also see psychedelic Brit poppers Kula Shaker take to the stage. Playing the festival for the first time are local boys From the Jam who feature two-thirds of the original The Jam and they'll be bringing all the mod classics with them. Welsh singer-songwriter formerly of Catatonia Cerys Mathews, and acid jazz funksters Freak Power complete the acts confirmed for this family friendly festival.

This festival has a lovely friendly and laid-back vibe. Unlike some other festivals, you can immediately feel that this festival is being run to give everyone a great time, rather than to make money out of their visitors.

The line-up on the main two stages is classic and modern acts, more than 200 in all will be announced over the coming weeks for what will be a truly fantastic weekend.

Visitors to Guilfest can expect not only a great weekend of live music, but also comedy, children's entertainment, street theatre, art and crafts, delicious food from around the world and a truly festive atmosphere. There will also be a late licensed 150 foot bar and a cocktail bar, an extensive children’s area, The KidZone.

The Kidzone is packed full of games, stilt walking, balloon modelling, face painting and drawing. On the Sunday it's over to the children for the annual Kids Parade, where the children get to show the rest of the festival what they have made over their weekend.

Tickets are on sale priced as follows: Adults - £40 day, £90 weekend, £100 weekend with camping. Children between 12 – 16 years old - £30 day, £50 weekend, £60 weekend with camping. N.B. Children between 12 – 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Children aged under 12 have free entry with a ticket holding adult. Camper vans tickets are £80 and are only valid in conjunction with an adult with camping ticket.

You can either camp for the whole weekend, or just come for one day. The music starts at around 5pm on the Friday, and noon on both Saturday and Sunday. Music finishes at 11pm on Friday and Saturday, with an earlier 9:30pm finish on Sunday.
