Camden Crawl adds The Fratellis, Lightspeed Champion, and others

plus crawlers will have busking, comedy stages and under 18s venue

The Camden Crawl taking place from Friday 18th and Saturday 19th April has added new acts to those entertaining 'Crawlers' in 25 venues in Camden, London and unveiled some new entertainment for Friday daytime.

The new acts to play on Friday are The Fratellis, The Horrors (DJ Set), Lightspeed Champion, and Robyn.

There has also been a few changes to the programming with some artists now only playing on the Friday instead of both days. The acts are The Answering Machine, Crystal Castles, Does It Offend You, Yeah?, Los Campesinos!, Metronomy, One Night Only, Operator Please, Sam Isaac, and Future of the Left.

The news daytime events lined up for Camden Crawlers on Friday are as follows:

Live Comedy: There will be two stages of daytime comedy this year. Backstage Comedy and Laughterinoddplaces will be bringing Crawlers a wide variety of comedic talent from the dry and surreal to the simply side splitting.

Bedroom Jam: This will be the Crawl's only outdoor venue which will also be open to under 18's. Playing early live shows are Los Campesinos! and Bombay Bicycle Club, and expect to see some of the UK's most talented young bands here.

Busking Sessions: This year Camden Crawl is asking any budding musicians to contribute to its line-up by hosting an official busking venue for the first time ever. Slots are available to anyone prepared to entertain a crowd. Opening slots are up for grabs now on www.redstripe.net.

Things kick off from noon on Friday 18th April along the mile-long stretch from Chalk Farm to Mornington Crescent. This strip of pavement will play host to 130 artists performing across the event's 25 official venues over the 2 days and evenings.

Artists playing both days are Bobby Cook, Boy Kill Boy, Cage The Elephant, Cat The Dog, Cock N Bull Kid, Creepy Morons, Dananananaykroyd, Elle S'appelle, Fanfarlo, Florence And The Machine, The Haunts, Ida Maria, Ipso Facto, Johnny Flynn, Johnny Foreigner, Lets Wrestle, Lo-Fi-Fnk, Lykke Li, Make Model, Noah And The Whale, Royworld, Slow Club, Sam Sparro, Stricken City, Tellison, The Wave Pictures, and This City.

Entertaining for the Friday only are Agaskodo Teliverek, Blackhole, Bombay Bicycle Club, Cutting Pink With Knives, Eastern Conference Champions, Eugene Mcguinness, Figure 5, The Ghost Frequency, Hatcham Social, In Case Of Fire, Jme, The King Blues, Lowline, Lucy and the Caterpillar, Noisettes, Post War Years, Rolo Tomassi, The Rushes, Sergeant, Shut Your Eyes And You'll Burst Into Flames, Simone White, Sixnationstate, Soko, Vinny Vinny, William, Yoav, and YouthMovies.

Those bands playing just on the Saturday are Acoustic Ladyland, The Brute Chorus, Cheeky Cheeky And The Nosebleeds, Cheap Hotel, Circulus, Duels, Effie Briest, Innerpartysystem, Invasion /Jay Jay Pistolet, Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong, Kode 9, Lucy And The Caterpillar, Pacific!, Partyshank, Reuben, Rosie Oddie And The Odd Squad, Screaming Tea Party, Skepta, Sky Larkin, Slagsmalsklubben, Stricken City, Tronic Youth, and White Lies.

The 2008 Crawl will grow to include even more interactive music related fun from noon each day of the festival along the mile-long stretch from Chalk Farm to Mornington Crescent. This includes acoustic sessions, live showcases, live street art and auction, unsigned band competitions, awful poetry competition, pop quizzes, musical bingo, fan forums, comedy, making stuff, performance art, film screenings, exhibitions and more. There's also the planned addition of an outdoor stage and street closures in central Camden Town which will add a new carnival-style dimension.

One ticket, available as single or two day passes, will allow up to 15,000 music fans unlimited access to all Crawl venues, after show parties and daytime activities. The price also includes a free CD programme featuring a core selection of the artists appearing at the event.
