Emily Eavis, daughter of Glastonbury Festival founder Michael Eavis, is launching a regular London gig night, though which new bands might get the chance to earn a slot to play at the Festival.

Emily Eavis is looking for new talent to play at her Holy Cow nights, which will take place regularly at The Social, Little Portland Street, in London. The best of the bands playing Holy Cow will be offered places at the festival playing on one of the smaller stages, with Ms Eavis hoping to uncover acts who will grace the Festival's main Pyramid Stage in the future.

Emily told BBC Online (here), "As a festival, we would really like to lead the way in new music. We're really after unsigned acts and finding the best new acts from all corners of the country and beyond. The aim is to collect as many new bands as possible throughout the year and build up a strong roster of new acts. We've had some brilliant debut sets throughout the years, where bands start at Glastonbury on a very small stage and end up playing the Pyramid in a few years."

The first Holy Cow night - tonight - features Vampire Weekend, and The Envy Corps, with Alexander Wolfe on first. Acts wanting to appear at Holy Cow should contact the organisers via Holy Cow's MySpace site.

Details of how tickets will be sold for Glastonbury Festival 2008 are expected to be announced early in December - we'll of course have the details for you when they're available. Next year's Festival will take place from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th June, with the site open to early arrivals from Wednesday 25th June.
