Oxfam at Glastonbury
find out what the charity will be up at this year's festival

Take action on climate change, visit their carbon gym, buy lovely retro clobber and say hello to Oxfam stewards at this year’s Glastonbury...

This year Oxfam is asking Glasto-goers to make the I Count climate change pledge – between them, Water Aid and Greenpeace, they want 100,000 people to sign up over the weekend.

The I Count pledge encourages people to take 16 simple steps in their lives to help reduce their environmental impact – and to urge world leaders to take climate change seriously. Everybody arriving at the festival will be given a special wristband with the message: “We can stop climate chaos”.

As well as Oxfam’s climate change campaigners, keep an eye out for the carbon gym in the Oxfam tent next to the Pyramid Stage. You can knacker yourself out on the special bikes and carbon weights, and demonstrate how climate change is hitting the poorest people around the world hardest.

And, if you want to go shopping, there are loads of Oxfam stalls selling vintage clothes, hats, wellies, blankets and saris. Look out for the Oxfam shop in The Park, too.

And Glastonbury really wouldn’t be Glastonbury without Oxfam’s friendly stewards. This year, they’ve got over 1,500 of them working their socks, wellies and day-glow tabards off to ensure the whole event runs smoothly. In 2005 Oxfam’s stewards earned £200,000 for Oxfam’s work around the world...Awesome stuff.

Glastonbury Festival will take place at Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset from Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th June (with the gates opening next Wednesday).
