The first line-up details have been announced for Ireland's Electric Picnic, which is to be held on Friday 31st August, Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd September 2007 at Stradbally Hall, Co Laois, Eire.

Confirmed are The Beastie Boys, doing their first Irish show in over a decade; Iggy And The Stooges, Bjork, Jarvis Cocker, Jesus And Mary Chain, LCD Soundsystem, Primal Scream, The Good, The Bad and The Queen, Modest Mouse, Polyphonic Spree, Craig Armstrong, Soul II Soul, Paul Hartnoll’s The Ideal Condition, Dublin Gospel Choir, Sonic Youth, Aim, The Go! Team, Ratatat, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Ladytron, Jamie Lidell, Damien Dempsey, Mr Scruff, The Magic Numbers, The Undertones, Fujiya & Miyagi, Horace Andy, Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain, Marlena Shaw, !!! (Chk, Chk, Chk), A Trak, Josh Wink, Electrelane, Bonde do Role, Deerfhoof, Kieran Hebden & Steve Reid, Derek May, Hextatic, Derick Carter, The Glimmers, The Elecktrons, and DJ Marky, with many more yet to be announced.

With more than just music, the Electric Picnic also has The Body and Soul Village, with the Village Green which will contain an Arts and Crafts area where some of Ireland’s best craftworkers will weave their talents to create a collective art piece especially for this year’s festival. In the Village Hall they'll be line dancing, daily ceili, gypsy bands, trad sessions, apple bobbing, salsa classes, dancing competitions. There's a massive range of holistic treatments, late night entertainment and plenty of trippy, pretty things to dazzle & enchant you. There's a kids field withl house fun games, creative workshops, movies, arts and crafts, puppet making and circus skills. Plus tug of war, twister, giant skittles and rounders to tickle your fancy.

Lost Vagueness return for a third time, with the Chapel of Love and Loathing, the Casino, the Ballroom, The Changing Room and the Laundrettas Laundromat Of Love.

New this year is the world renowned Fossets Circus, with acrobats, clowns and jugglers, while The International Comedy Club returns hosted as usual by Des Bishop with the best comedy Ireland has to give.

Back again is the Leviathan Think Tank - the political debate tent hosted again this year by Economist, broadcaster and writer David McWilliams. Enlarged this year to 2 tents there will be a series of intelligent and entertaining discussions as the centrepiece to a vibrant weekend of spoken word events including poetry, theatre, speakers' corner, story-telling, musical satire, comedy films and much more.

Capacity remains at 32,500, ensuring that The Picnic's intimacy remains intact, but the festival will have en enlarged camping area to allow for more room and comfort for festival goers. Going green this year, festival go-ers are asked to 'Leave No Trace'.

Tickets for the three day festival are priced Euro 220, including camping, and go on sale tomorrow. We'll have links to buy when available.
