Scottish band Runrig are to put on their own outdoor event. Runrig – Beat the Drum, Loch Ness will take place on Saturday 18th August next year at Borlum Farm, Drumnadrochit, on the shores of Loch Ness (subject to license).
The one-day festival will of course have Runrig headlining, with support from several special guests, yet to be announced. In addition the Blas Festival, which has been doing much to promote Gaelic traditional music in the Highlands, will also be involved by providing a musical backdrop of young upcoming talent on a secondary stage (under canvas) to celebrate the the area’s traditional music.
Runrig are no strangers to the waterside, having played on the banks of another loch, Loch Lomond, on 22nd June 1991 - a memorable career highlight for the band. The Loch Ness show marks another milestone in a stunning and iconic outdoor location, with Runrig returning to their roots and also serves as a wonderful introduction for their growing international audience to the landscape that has inspired so much of their music.
Runrig will be playing many of their hits as well as material from their new studio album planned for summer release. It will also be the first time that Bruce Guthro, their lead singer of the past eight years, has performed near a legendary Scottish Loch.
Tickets are priced £30 per person, with under-12s free. Family tickets cost £100 (two adults and up to two under 16s), and camping is available at £5 per person per night. Click here to buy.
