exclusive guesses proved wrong Wed 9th Aug 06 While the crème of the supposedly reputable music publications were yesterday announcing the headliners of next year’s Glastonbury Festival, eFestivals decided to sit back, relax and wait for them to get it all wrong...again. Never ones to lightly jump on the rumour mill, the NME announced that The Killers, Bruce Springsteen and Kylie were the names topping the bill of Glastonbury 2007. The announcement spread onto some other prematurely excited websites until Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis pulled the plug on the whole charade, during a discussion with the BBC News website. Following NME’s previous announcement that Bruce Springsteen was being lined up to close the Saturday evening of the festival, the BBC reported that Michael Eavis told them he was “surprised” to see newspaper claims that Springsteen was in line to play the event. The report went on to say that Eavis was '"really assured” by the erroneous reporting because it meant nobody had worked out who the headliners would be.' So in a surprise turn of events that has shocked us at eFestivals to our very core ( If you want to have a go at making up Glastonbury rumours, or you want to see what likeminded individuals are guessing at, or perhaps you work for a clueless music publication, then you may want to join in the Glasto-Guessing-Game on our forums here. published: 12:52 (GMT)
