Glastonbury Festival Glastonbury Festival 2005

In 2004, Glastonbury Festival introduced its "unsigned" competition, to give unsigned bands a fair chance to play at the Festival.

Over 2,500 bands entered - every entry was listened to! - and a number of acts of different genres were selected to play in front of Michael Eavis at the competition finals in Pilton, with each genre winner given the chance to play at the Festival.

The value of the competition has already been proved as the overall winners that year, The Subways, have since gone on to major success.

But they weren't the only great band discovered in this way - the quality of the acts was so high that along with each genre winner, places were found for a large number of the other bands to perform.

The competition finals covered the full range of music styles and were a perfect scouting ground for Concrete Recordings with their philosophy, ‘there are two kinds of music, good and bad’. The label were delighted when their idea of releasing the compilation album was enthusiastically met by the Festival staff at the Pilton Finals.

Now the time has come for the 2004 CD to go off-sale, so it's your last chance to pick-up the double CD - for just a fiver. At the end of the month, the chance is gone forever.

To get your hands on a copy - or a copy of the 2005 CD - log on to www.Concreterecordings.co.uk and spend the same amount as a packet of fags. Bargain!
