Glastonbury: bands competition winners
and "Best Festival in the World" ... again

Sun 20th Mar 05

Glastonbury Festival Glastonbury Festival 2005

All the finals have now taken place, for the bands competition to win slots on some of the stages at this year's Glastonbury Festival.

Two weeks ago it was the finals for the Jazzworld Stage, which was won by Moya, and the Dance final winners were The Bellagios. There's a review of the Jazzworld final here.

This weekend were the finals for the Acoustic Stage - won by The Deadbeats (review here), and for the John Peel Stage, which was won by Mad Staring Eyes (review here).

Congratulations to all the winning bands, who get to play in June, and some of the other finalists may well also be offered the chance to play. Do try and go and see at least one of these acts at the Festival, as they could well be stars of the future.

You can listen to all the finalists of all four finals using the Festivals Sound Generator.

At last night's final, it was also announced Glastonbury had won yet another "best festival in the world" award, to no ones great surprise. Anyone who's been doesn't need the Festival to win an award like this to know that it is.

And another week has gone by, so it must be time for a new name to be rumoured. We think Lauren Hill will be putting in appearance, just before Kylie on the Pryamid Stage on the Sunday.

For the very best line-up information, check out our Glastonbury rumours.
