latest bid to beat the touts Fri 28th Jan 05 BBC Online is reporting that Glastonbury Festival organiser Michael Eavis has told them he's to issue photo ID this year to ticket purchasers in a bid to beat touts. The report says that the cards will include a photograph of the ticket-holder plus an electronic chip with their details to prevent tickets being sold on or forged. It goes on that ticket holders will be able to use their own photo ID (such as driving licence or passport) if they wish.
Although broadly successful, some tickets were still re-sold, along with the ID. The use of photo ID should block this loophole. Tickets for the Festival go on sale on 3rd April, priced at £125. See here for the details so far available - more info will be made available in due course. The Festival takes place from 24-26 June. published: 08:46 (GMT)
