police to investigate Glastonbury forgeries?

Glastonbury Festival Glastonbury Festival 2005

According to the BBC News website, Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis has asked the Police to investigate whether 500 forged tickets were sold for this year's event.

The Festival sold out of tickets through the official agents in less than 24 hours this year, and many tickets were then traded through unofficial sources, with those desperate for a ticket paying vastly inflated prices. To try and stop people profiting from reselling tickets, the Festival had introduced measures to personalise the tickets, with matching identification required to gain admittance.

Michael EavisMichael appeared on BBC1's Watchdog this week (more info here), where the selling of 500 tickets through a channel not supplied by Glastonbury Festival was talked about. However, the website that Michael is reported to have asked to be investigated isn't named in this BBC News report.

Michael is quoted as saying "I am asking the police to find out where these tickets came from. There is a serious problem here and I am not happy about the source of the tickets."
