Writer and activist Naomi Klein and her film-director husband Avi Lewis today confirmed that they will be flying over for the Glastonbury Festival at the end of June to meet up with campaigners and to join in the debates at the Glastonbury Left Field.

Left Field director and Battersea and Wandsworth TUC organiser Geoff Martin said:
"We are thrilled to have Naomi and Avi coming over from Canada to be with us at the Left Field this year and I have to thank our comrade and Left Field troubadour Billy Bragg for setting this up.

For many of the Glastonbury audience No Logo has been an inspiration which has spurred them on to get involved in campaigns against sweat shops and the big global brands who feed off them. With Naomi, Avi and our international guests from Colombia, Haiti and Costa Rica the Left Field will be buzzing and we’ll be nailing the lie that young people aren’t interested in politics and global solidarity in fine style."

Naomi Klein:
"As a new spirit of direct action has swept the globe, radicalism has returned to the heart of Glastonbury and weıre proud to be a part of the Left Field. Glasto has always been is unique in the way it creates spaces for social and cultural movements to gather, plot, and celebrate and this year will be better than ever."

Avi Lewis:
"The first time I came to Glastonbury was as music journalist in 1995. I found Joe Strummer in the backstage camping area, stirring a huge cast iron cauldron of mulled wine. I asked him why people were so wildabout Glasto.

He told me that if Iıd been on the same spot of ground ten thousand years earlier, I would probably have seen the same thing: a big meet, people getting together to celebrate and rage against the dark. Well, these days, people are raging again, and we need big meets more than ever: Iım thrilled to be invited to the Left Field this year."
