the cure for Glastonbury is...
The Cure, Basement Jaxx, and more

Glastonbury Festival Glastonbury Festival 2004

Last night on Channel 4, Robert Smith of The Cure hinted in a very strong manner that The Cure will be playing at Glastonbury Festival this year. From memory, they last appeared in 1995, before which they were there most years. It'll be great to see them back!

Radio 1 have been told by Basement Jaxx that they have agreed to play. They closed the Other Stage on the Sunday night in 2000.

We've heard from a reliable source that The Bees are playing.

Damien Rice and The Doves are both very likely, as bands who play at the Pilton Party are normally offered good slots at the Festival.

An unsigned band called Blackbud - who describe themselves as blues, funk, alternative in the style of Hendrix, Cream and Buckley - are to play the Avalon Stage.

Another up and coming rock band are Birmingham based Nowhere Near the Garden, who tell us they'll be playing on a new unsigned bands stage.

Norah Jones and Blondie both finish UK tours just before Glastonbury, so we think appearances from them as possible.

And finally, someone has told us that they heard directly from Brian May that Queen are to play on the Pyramid Stage on the Saturday. We're more than a little unsure about this one though - for a start, who'd be singing?

If you see or hear anything about who's playing, mail the info to newsroom@efestivals.co.uk
