Avon and Somerset Police - who have a big say in whether a license is granted or not - have indicated that they would have opposed the application as it stood due to concerns over public safety. It's believed that these concerns are more to do with the amount of detail contained within the application, rather than to the plans themselves.

Since plans for this years (2001) Glastonbury Festival were abandoned in January, the organisers have carried out a thorough review of all aspects of the Festival with the aim of a license being granted for 2002.

It's expected that a revised license application will be submitted before the end of the year, with a license hearing taking place early next year. The organisers have said that they plan to resolve outstanding concerns before the next licence meeting.
