Sadly another festival has been brought up against Liquidation. Guildford Live has been running for the last 10 years but has never actually broken even. Most years’ organiser Tony Scott is able to fall back on his marquee business to top up lost cash. But unfortunately, due to foot and mouth, the demand for marquees was small this year.
Much like Bishopstock who also went into Liquidation this year, Guildford had one of its best years. But because Sunday nights headliners Catatonia pulled out of the event very near the actual day along with weather forecasts predicting rain for the whole weekend, all led to the last minute ticket sales being very poor.
There will be a meeting for creditors later this month to sell the companies -
Guildford Fusion Festival Ltd and Tony Scott Marquee Hire Ltd - and to pay debts totalling £120,000. It is still not certain if Guildford Live will run next year. Hopefully it will, as we see Guildford Live as one of the better festivals this country has to offer and it would be sadly missed.
