Keane : "Call Me What You Like" EP
REVIEW
published: Fri 25th May 2001
Three quality songs that capture the Keane experience, nothing fast and furious, just crisp drawn out melodies proving that less is indeed more. Slightly haunting in places
with catchy choruses, after a couple of listens you'll be muscling in
on the vocals trying to hold the notes as long as Tom. You'll pick up
hints of James, a flavour of Radiohead an ambience of The Doors in Richards
drumming. 'Call me what you like' and 'Rubbernecking' the first and
second track similar in tempo and style yet different but the best is
last with 'Closer now.' A little faster but still within the realms
of easy listening Toms vocals have a certain something which makes this
track the more memorable of the three. The only person you'd offend
by playing this would be a full on Raver who's banged three in quick
succession but give them a couple of hours and it's great for the early
morning chill-out.
