  1. I too have been avoiding all possible G-Chat since failing to get tickets. Whilst I'm not massively enamoured with the line up announcement, there's still a few on there I'd love to see. From those in our group who missed out, we have 6 who will be trying; all of whom have also registered to volunteer with no success. I get that it's all complete luck of the draw now, but if you don't chuck your hat in the ring, you never know. (crosses fingers).
  2. 7 groups of 6 in our team and only 3 got tickets. Not including my group. Completely gutted. Worked out that we had around 200 devices in the queue and only 3 got in. That’s some shite odds.
  3. A guy who has one hit single - which is a cover version - headlining though? KT Surely the bigger artist?

This got your hopes up? They sound exactly the same! Like bad Springsteen B-Sides. And I don’t like Springsteen.

I mean. People are genuinely raving about this? Sounds like he's taken Boys of Summer and removed any of the remotely interesting flourishes. His output is just all so magnolia and indistinguishable I just don't get it at all.

That's how I've always thought of it. I'm sure certain aspects are planned/rehearsed, but I've definitely seen improvisation live from some bands - often extended guitar breaks and solos where you can see the rest of the band waiting anticipating key changes and waiting for the lead to nod them back into the bridge/chorus/whatever.
  7. Saw them Saturday just gone at Rock City in Nottingham. Fantastic setlist and "blistering" sums it up perfectly. Even as a 50 year old I managed to stick it out in the pit for the whole gig, although I am quite bruised and struggling with headbang neck 3 days later.... #oldmanproblems

    Know that for a fact?
  9. Seeing the Therapy? Troublegum 30 tour tomorrow at Rock City in Nottingham. Me & my older brother went to see the original tour 30 years ago and it remains one of my top 5 gig experiences, even though I came out of the mosh pit with a split lip/loose tooth. Big Bro is coming tomorrow too. We're both well giddy, but at 50 and 52 years old, maybe give the pit a swerve this time. We'll see....

I've often thought he could potentially headline. Whilst he's not really a currently recording artist, every album he's released (I think) was a UK No.1, so he's massive over here. He'd please the picnic chair brigade no end. His greatest hits setlist would have some great pop tunes in it. The choice would be massively derided on here, but I think it could work really well for the festival - especially on locals day. I reckon half of our group would probably attend and - clashes dependent - so would I.
  11. The Scratch were great at Avalon this year. Much better live than on record IMO.
  12. I was really surprised by that and TBF, think I picked the wrong stage, we were at Avalon for Baby Queen. Baby Queen was good, but Janelle looked awesome on the TV. Elton by a mile the biggest crowd I've ever seen there. Not a headliner but Dolly Parton actually not far behind.
  13. As a fellow AdrianH, I concur. The thought of this is genuinely making me feel physically ill.
  14. Dream pick for me would be Annie Lennox, but if it was Bryan Adams I'd definitely be there. Seen him live twice and loved both gigs. Genuinely charismatic frontman and entertainer.
