You are not alone Hazey, I'm glad to say. Maybe we could start our own niche interweb site?

open air pooing....beats the stinky sweaty filthy portaloos...the gentle breeze around your particulars.....looking up at the stars...and squeezing out a good healthy length of cable

There is definitely something to be said for open-air pooing.

Having said that, the familar noise of 'clang' when you pass the nearest green 'stopping point' is extremely comforting.  It's like you KNOW you're finally home.

Out of curiousity, has anyone ever had a conversation with a neighbouring 'dropper'?

I did last year.  Top bloke.  Had quite a long visit, then found out he was waiting for me outside the longdrop - I obviously took longer than he did - I had my Q Daily handy.  I shook his hand before we said our goodbyes (after washing them obviously).  It can be quite beautiful to share such an experience.

whoa, whoa, whoa!! That to me implies that you settled down and got comfy whilst laying your log  :(    I am a big fan of the long drops - will always choose one over a turdis - but you don't get comfy there!! Strong thighs are what you need!!

This is very wrong in every way. Especially when the chap next to you has a five day back up and everyone gets splashback

it would be one HELL of a brown trout to give splashback a good five/six foot upwards.
nothing earthbound could manage that, surely.

surely?

I just like the vibe in the longdrops, i spend as much time in there as possible, sometimes when its all getting too much i like to get some noodles and milk shake then chill out in there for 30 mins or so
