Thinking of going to Guilfest this year, just wondered if there was any advise/tips for my first Guilfest.
One question does come to mind, what time does it all kick off the Friday, is it like IOW about 5/6 or does it start earlier?
Thanks in advance.

Gates open around 12 on the Friday usually Keith.
It's a really nice little festival, where the toilets are (usually) spanking, the beer cold and the company friendly. I'm forgoing Glasto this year but would never give up Guilfest.
Oh, you're also allowed to take drink into the arena, good job really where would I find my usual tipple of Tequila and cherryade.
No bottles obviously

Music starts at 5pm on Friday, midday on Saturday and Sunday.
Music finishes at 11pm on Friday & Saturday, and 9:30pm on the Sunday.
There's comedy and other stuff that happens after the main stages shut.

Ok, well you'll see elsewhere that I'm a bit of a guilfest traitor (I have line-up issues, not the headliners the undercard - but I hope I've made it clear how much i would love to be proved wrong this year and have to face the issue of how the hell do i go to two festivals in one month!!!!!)....anyway the ambiance at this festival is generally lovely.
I would recommend to anyone that they actually go on the Thursday. The campsite banter is great and whilst the music doesn't start till 5 on the friday the festival is really IN the town....so you can wander in to have breakfast......there's a huge leisure complex over the road.....a lido.......its not even that far to get to the cinema if the weather turns.

Thanks for that guys, really do want to go, sounds a lot like IOW that is all in the town on the Thursday night and then great atmosphere on the Friday before they open up the gates. Think I will have to convince the boss to give me Friday off after all....

Have only ever done Saturday's (live 20mins down the road), but it's a lovely festival. Great atmosphere, good for children, two good stages, with a few other tents dotted around, including the comedy one. It's always been a great day out, lovely and relaxing.
You'll have a great time! And you can take your own booze.

Ok Keith, glad to hear you are going to Guilfest - what bands are you hoping to catch? I am tempted to go just to see Senser - as i am a huge fan and will already have seen them at the Bierkeller 5th June on their new tour. Are you a fan? if not you really should check them out.
Regards

This is going to be my first Guilfest, I'm coming on the Sunday (due to the band I co-manage playing on that day).
It's helpful having this thread, so thanks to the person who posted it and thanks to the people who replied.

No silent disco last year and I'm sure I read this year its a rock disco in the rocksound tent when the bands finish.
Goes on till 1am if its the same as last year.

I lived in Guildford for a couple of years and went them - the guy who runs it used to call it a mini glastonbury and he does try and stay true to that spirit (other than having way better toilets). The townie aspect doesnt really come into it if you dont want it to as the festival is in a huge park - I definitely recommend Guilfest to anyone - a great little festival!
